On August 1, 2022, Miriëla Carolina was appointed member and vice chairman of the Fair Trade Authority Curaçao. Miriëla Carolina earned her Master in Econometrics, after which she worked as an economic researcher and policy advisor at the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS). In 2016, she obtained a PhD (doctorate) from Tilburg University. Her dissertation was titled “The price-rigidity puzzle on a micro-island: The case of Curaçao.” In her thesis she describes the process of price formation in the market sectors in Curaçao. Miriëla Carolina has done extensive research on many economic topic’s, and has been involved in several committees and advisory working groups on Curaçao. She not only has vast experience in the field of governance, but in addition she has several academic publications in the field of economics to her credit.
